    Farm Manager

    Our client is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to take responsibility for the day to day management of a fresh egg production operation.

    The role will focus on maintaining high standards of animal welfare, flock health, egg quality, production efficiency and health and safety. The successful candidate will oversee the full farm operation, ensuring that birds are cared for to the highest standards whilst production targets, regulatory requirements and commercial objectives are consistently achieved.

    Responsibilities as Farm Manager

    Take overall responsibility for the day to day management of the egg production farm.

    Plan and coordinate daily and seasonal farm activities to maximise flock performance and egg production.

    Monitor egg production, quality, grading, mortality, feed consumption and other key performance indicators.

    Identify production issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.

    Ensure eggs are collected, handled, stored and transferred in accordance with required quality and food safety standards.

    Maintain the highest standards of bird welfare and husbandry at all times.

    Ensure birds have appropriate access to feed, water, housing, ventilation, lighting and environmental conditions.

    Monitor flock health and behaviour, identifying potential welfare or health concerns at an early stage.

    Work closely with the farm’s veterinary team and other animal health professionals.

    Maintain comprehensive and accurate flock health and welfare records.

    Ensure the farm operates in accordance with relevant animal welfare legislation, assurance schemes and industry best practice.

    Take ownership of health and safety across the farm operation.

    Ensure employees, contractors and visitors follow all relevant health and safety procedures.

    Carry out and regularly review risk assessments and safe systems of work.

    Ensure appropriate training, PPE and equipment are provided and used correctly.

    Lead, motivate and develop the farm team, ensuring clear responsibilities and high standards of performance.

    Monitor farm expenditure and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

    Manage the effective use of feed, equipment, labour and other farm resources.

    Work with suppliers, contractors, vets and other external partners as required.

    Requirements as Farm Manager

    Proven experience managing a poultry, egg production or livestock farming operation.

    Strong practical knowledge of poultry husbandry, flock management and egg production.

    A genuine commitment to animal welfare and flock health.

    Experience managing and developing farm teams.

    A strong understanding of agricultural health and safety requirements.

    Good commercial awareness and an understanding of farm productivity and operational costs.

    Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.

    Strong communication and leadership skills.

    The ability to make confident decisions and respond effectively to operational issues.

    High standards of record keeping and attention to detail.

    A proactive approach to continuous improvement.

    Relevant agricultural or poultry qualifications would be advantageous.
